We launched the Interim Gilroy Center for the Arts in August of 2010, and I am proud to say we have been going non stop since. This year, we celebrate our 7th Season, which promises to be our busiest year yet. For over seven years we have been the south anchor to the revitalization of downtown Gilroy, bringing new life to the arts in Gilroy and South County. We offer exhibits, theater productions, multi cultural events, family outdoor movie nights, summer art programs for youth, holiday boutiques, rental space and so much more. You can check out our full schedule here

The Center opened its doors to over 6,500 people last year. We hope to see even more people this year as our reputation for quality programming and events continue. In addition, our Artisan's Corner is a unique place to shop for handmade, one of kind items. Our gallery hosts artists from all over the Bay Area, and our Resident Theater Company continues to receive awards for the best theater in Gilroy and South County.

We are proud to partner with Gilroy Downtown Business Association on the annual Art and Wine Stroll, and excited to partner with local businesses such as The Nimble Thimble and The Milias Restaurant. Of course, we love the arts coverage provided by Out & About Magazine, Gilroy Dispatch and SV Life. Certainly, much of what we do wouldn't be possible without the hard working folks at Gilroy Foundation and SV Creates. We continue to work with the City of Gilroy on our common goal to build a larger Center for the Arts, as originally approved over ten years ago. One day, we hope the original plan, perhaps slightly modified, will begin construction so we can double our space and significantly increase our programming to include after school classes and art classrooms.

For now, Gilroy Arts Alliance, the non profit that operates the Center for the Arts, continues to work behind the scenes to make sure the Arts in Gilroy will have a solid future, and a place to come to, for generations to come. In 2017, we will continue our work on Annual Corporate Sponsorships and Individual Sponsorships to help us provide the best in arts education and participation at the Center.

If you've been to the Center, thank you for your support! If you haven't, come see us!  I'd be happy to schedule a personal tour and talk with you about everything we do. I love to hear "I did't know Gilroy had an Art Center." It's the perfect opportunity for me to share why it is so important that we do. Remember, without "Art" the "earth" would just be "eh".

Thank you!

Kevin Heath
